The 10 Most Targeted NFL Players from Week 13

When it comes to your fantasy football players, it’s touchdowns, yards and (receptions for PPR leagues) that matter. So if your player isn’t catching his targets, despite how many passes are thrown, then he’s just not carrying his weight. These are the NFL’s top 10 in targets for Week 13.

1. Calvin Johnson, Wide Receiver, Detroit Lions

Targeted 16 times and caught 69% of his targets – Second-Ranked Fantasy wide receiver in Week 13.

2. Keenan Allen, Wide Receiver, San Diego Chargers

Targeted 15 times and caught 73% of his targets – Fifth-Ranked Fantasy wide receiver in Week 13

3. Heath Miller, Tight End, Pittsburgh Steelers

Targeted 14 times and caught 57% of his targets – Seventh-Ranked Fantasy tight end in Week 13.

Josh Gordon, Wide Receiver, Cleveland Browns

Targeted 13 times and caught 54% of his passes – 38th Ranked Fantasy wide receiver in Week 13. Boy those targets certainly did not pay off in Gordon’s case.

5. Alshon Jeffery, Wide Receiver, Chicago Bears

Targeted 13 times and caught 69% of his passes – ninth-Ranked Fantasy wide receiver in Week 13.

6. Demaryius Thomas, Wide Receiver, Denver Broncos

Targeted 13 times and caught 46% of his passes – 14th Ranked Fantasy wide receiver in Week 13

7. Kelvin Benjamin, Wide Receiver, Carolina Panthers

Targeted 13 times and caught just 42% of his passes – 49th Ranked Fantasy wide receiver in Week 13.

8. Antonio Brown, Wide Receiver, Pittsburgh Steelers

Targeted 12 times and caught 67% of his passes – sixth-Ranked Fantasy wide receiver in Week 13.

9. Harry Douglas, Wide Receiver, Atlanta Falcons

Targeted 12 times and caught 75% of his passes – 20th Ranked Fantasy wide receiver in Week 13.

10. Julio Jones, Wide Receiver, Atlanta Falcons

Targeted 12 times and caught 83% of his passes – fourth-Ranked Fantasy wide receiver in Week 13.

It’s interesting to see that perhaps your fantasy player landed in the top 10 in targets, but because of overthrown, missed or broken up passes such as in the case of Kelvin Benjamin, being a top targeted player didn’t get him anywhere other than ranked 49th in Week 13. It was nearly the same for Josh Gordon.

Things were quite different for a top 10 targeted player like Calvin Johnson who was more accurate in his pass catching and was able to turn two of his catches into touchdowns.

Then we’ve got someone like Coby Fleener, tight end for the Indianapolis Colts who had only seven targets. Fortunately, he caught all seven piled on a ton of yardage, and scored two touchdowns, resulting in him being the top scoring fantasy tight end for Week 13.

The bottom line is a quarterback can throw to his targets all day long until his arm falls off, however if his passes aren’t being caught, or the players are not making much out of what they catch, those are the guys that are going to take you down in any given week.
