49ers’ Stevie Johnson Trying to Secure No. 3 Receiver Slot
Johnson while in Buffalo from 2010-2012, accomplished 1,000-plus yards each season. Now it appears that Johnson’s exact role is not yet determined, according to offensive coordinator Greg Roman who had this to report on whether Johnson would line up on the field in three-receiver sets, (via NFL.com).

It depends. It depends. I think we’ll have some flexibility there.
Johnson weighed in on the situation himself, being the newbie to the team by saying..
I’m pretty sure everybody already knows the bulk of it will be with Crab and Boldin. So we’re just fitting in right after them.
According to CSN Bay Area, they slightly suggested that Johnson isn’t quite a lock on the 53-man roster at this point. Johnson is scheduled to earn $3.925 million which is a large number pay someone sitting on the sidelines.
Currently, Johnson is competing with Quinton Patton, Brandon Lloyd and rookie Bruce Ellington for targets. Considering what Johnson earns, it seems like he would be a shoe-in for the No. 3 slot as the clock is winding down to finalizing the team’s final roster.
For fantasy football purposes, Johnson should only be drafted as a WR4 or WR5 at the most. Watch him over his next two preseason games to get a better feel, however for how or if he connects with quarterback, Colin Kaepernick.
