Broncos’ RB Montee Ball Likely Out for Preseason
Denver Broncos’ second-year running back, Montee Ball will be recovering from an appendectomy he just underwent and is likely to be out the remainder of the preseason while he heals from his surgery.
With Montee (appendectomy) out of practice Monday, Hillman got most first-team reps. CJ Anderson got a "smattering." http://t.co/bRdYxqIGcW

Broncos’ coach John Fox had this to report about Ball who arrived at practice not feeling well (via ESPN).
He started feeling the effects, not feeling really good yesterday and then of course came in today not feeling very good, which is typical of that prognosis. Our medical people got him to the doctor and determined that’s what it was. It didn’t explode or anything, the bad end of that. It’s really a blessing we caught it now.
With a little over a month until the season opener on September 7, Ball is expected to be ready to play against the Indianapolis Colts. In the meantime, while Ball is recovering, Ronnie Hillman will practice with the first-team offence. C.J. Anderson will also get a dose of the first snaps also.
Ball sent his regards via Twitter, thanking his fans for supporting him.
I appreciate the get well wishes everyone! I will be ok and come back stronger than ever!! #Broncos

This is reassuring, however much precious practice time for Ball will be lost due to this unfortunate, and untimely surgery. Drafting Ball as a trusty RB1 at this point in time has just increased in risk.
