Calvin Johnson’s Decoy Days Likely Not Over
As of late, Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson hasn’t been very productive as he’s been suffering through a high ankle sprain causing the team to utilize him only as a decoy the past couple of weeks.
Johnson had this to comment per the teams’ official website, when asked about what it would take to play against the Vikings this Sunday (via NFL.com).
A lot of treatment.
#Lions WR Calvin Johnson told reporters today…"I will need 'a lot of treatment' to play Sunday."

According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, he reported that Johnson isn’t frustrated by being used a decoy in the Lions’ offense. So it sounds like Johnson, if he suits up, will continue in this role while his slowly healing ankle regains full strength.
What does this means to Johnson’s fantasy football owners? Until Johnson gets closer to 100 percent, it’s time to bench him unless you have absolutely no better alternatives. The numbers don’t lie.
For the past two weeks all Johnson has is three catches, four targets, 19 yards, zero touchdowns and 4.9 fantasy points. These are two-week totals my friends. If you’ve started Johnson the past couple of weeks, he has barely contributed anything as a fantasy player, and this could be the routine until he is healed.
Golden Tate, on the other hand has thrived racking up 250 receiving yards and 15 catches and has one touchdown over two weeks. I own Megatron on one league, and the last two week’s I’ve been burned. Fortunately I also have Golden Tate whom I also started. Johnson is a sit for me until he gets healthy. No decoys for me.
