Lacy absolutely shredded Chicago’s defense on Monday Night Football, rumbling and bumbling his way to 150 yards and a touchdown on the ground in a losing cause.
Even more impressive than his overall numbers was the fact that Lacy gained most of those yards after quarterback Aaron Rodgers left the game with a collarbone injury in the first quarter. As noted by SportsCenter‘s official Twitter account, the All-Pro quarterback would not return to the game:
Without Rodgers in the lineup, Green Bay sent veteran Seneca Wallace into the game, but he struggled badly, throwing an interception on his first possession and looking out of sorts all night long. Wallace finished the game with just 114 passing yards.
This lack of a passing game by the Packers allowed Chicago to focus on stuffing Lacy, but the Bears were helpless to stop him from grinding out 6.8 yards per carry.
This isn’t anything new.
Lacy has been on a tear the past five games since coming back from an injury earlier this season. His big game on Monday night marked his fourth straight 100-yard game and his third straight game with a touchdown.
Regardless of whether Rodgers can make a swift recovery, Lacy is going to receive a heavy workload week in and week out. Teams haven’t found a way to stop him yet this season, and until it happens, nobody should expect a different outcome.
