Mark Sanchez Claims Tim Tebow was only Signed to the Eagles for Practice The Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback situation is "complicated" to say the least. Currently, the squad consists of Mark Sanchez, Sam Bradford, Matt Barkley and the newly signed Tim Tebow. The signing of Tebow threw the world for a loop last weekend leaving everyone to wonder why exactly the Eagles brought in their latest signal-caller to join Chip Kelly's quarterback circus. Here to explain why Tebow landed in Philadelphia is Sanchez who shared his take with reporters (via the CSN Philadelphia). He's obviously a great guy, he works hard. And we needed another guy to throw while Sam's (Bradford) still recovering. So that's the reason (for the signing), at least as explained to me. We're excited about the upcoming year and I think we have a great group. So, according to Sanchez, Tebow is there to be an extra arm while Bradford recovers. It would make sense that Sanchez would talk Tebow down a bit considering he was signed on by the New York Jets a couple of years back to come to Sanchez' aid. We all know how well that situation worked out. While Sanchez' theory makes sense, would the Eagles have brought in one of the most inaccurate passers in the NFL to practice with the team's receivers? In Tebow's three-year NFL history, he completed an average of only 47.9 percent of his passes. On the other hand, Chip Kelly specifically signed the one quarterback who could capitalize on the possible NFL rule change to two-point conversions. Whatever the true reason is for Tebow's presence with the Eagles, we may never find out. When all is said and done, it may be Sanchez who is posing as team's camp arm while Bradford recovers.
