Panthers’ Cam Newton to be a Game Time Decision
Carolina Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton could miss his first start in four years as his participation in tomorrow’s game will be a game-time decision.
Rivera says QB Cam Newton is still a game time decision and is not leaning either way, but Newton "did take the next step" this morning.

Newton missed practice on Wednesday with sore ribs and he was limited on Thursday not tossing any passes. However, Friday Newton was spotted throwing some passes as reported by NFL Media’s Jeff Darlington.
Coach Ron Rivera had further positive news stating..
He took all the reps he was supposed to and he did throw. It was a good sign.
However, it was also noted by Rivera that Newton ran with the ball instead of passing in Friday’s practice indicating that is not what they want to happen. For now it is up in the air on Newton’s start status and is worth noting that Newton stated on Thursday that he doesn’t want to put the team at risk if he feels he is not ready.
Game time for the Panthers is 4:25 p.m. EST Sunday in Tampa Bay. This time makes it especially difficult if you are waiting for news on Cam, and your backup quarterback plays in the earlier series of games. Good luck and let’s hope if Newton does play he isn’t too limited.
