According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has been fined $8,268 for unnecessarily striking and opponent after the Patriots’ finished victory formation in Sunday’s Super Bowl.
Along with Gronkowski who proudly admitted he just had to throw out a few “haymakers”, Patriots’ tight end Michael Hoomanawanui was also fined $8,268 for the same actions.
Perhaps a bit more embarrassed are Seattle Seahawks’ defensive ends Michael Bennett fined the $8,268 and Bruce Irvin fined $10,000 for unnecessarily striking opponents. The whole brawl scene went down right after quarterback Tom Brady took a knee signifying the official ending of Super Bowl XLIX for which the Patriots beat the Seahawks 24-28.
While Gronk’s “haymakers” were well worth it to him in price, Bennett should have just stuck to finding a nearby police bike to swipe and ride off some steam.
