Sam Shields on Dez Bryant’s Recalled Catch “It was a Catch”
Green Bay Packers’ cornerback Sam Shields will be playing at the Pro Bowl this Sunday. He would have met up with Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver Dez Bryant had he not bowed out due to a groin injury.
Speaking up on their last meeting when Sheilds was covering Bryant in the Divisional playoff game, Shields agrees with Bryant that he did indeed make a catch (via ESPN.com).
It was a catch. But the new rule and at the last minute what happened, that’s what the refs came up with. I never said he didn’t catch it. He made a helluva catch I was in great coverage. Like I said, it was good on good and he came up with the catch.
The Cowboys, Dez Bryant and Sam Shields all thought it was a legitimate catch. Unfortunately, the NFL didn’t. Bryant stands by the fact he was reaching for the goal line when he was down, for which Shields agrees.
I did look back and I seen him reaching and I guess that’s when he didn’t control the ball as he was doing that.
Had Bryant been able to attend the Pro Bowl, it would have been fun to see the two in action.
