Texan’s Quarterbacks; One May Soon Be Odd Man Out
With four quarterbacks currently on the Houston Texans’ roster, one may soon find he’s the odd man out.
To date, since new head coach Bill O’Brien stepped in, the Texans signed 10-year veteran, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and added former Pittsburgh quarterback Tom Savage as a fourth round draft pick. Already on the roster were T.Y. Yates and Case Keenum.
O’Brien weighed in on the quartet of quarterbacks situation with these comments, via Houstontexans.com..
Anytime you have four, I don’t think it’s easy to divide the reps, O’Brien said Monday. I think you can really only give three guys reps in a practice, which is basically what we’ve been doing. I know that’s probably not the easiest for those guys, but three out of four have been getting reps. I’m not sure. We haven’t really talked about the roster yet, as it relates to training camp. Again, it goes back to everything that we do will be in the best interest of the team.
It sounds like someone could be on the chopping block as training camp for quarterbacks and rookies gets underway July 21, and in full swing for the entire team on July 25.
Who do you think will get the cut, if anyone actually does?
