Waiver Wire Pickups for Fantasy Football Week 15

Waiver Wire Pickups for Fantasy Football Week 15

December 10, 2013

Some valuable fantasy players endured injuries last week including a season-ender for Rob Gronkowski. Others who may miss this week due to injury are Adrian Peterson, Eddy Lacy, and Wes Welker, just to name a few.

Playoffs are upon us also, so utilize the waiver wire to your fullest advantage to beat your opponent in Week 15.

Waiver Wire Pickups for Fantasy Football Week 15

QUARTERBACKS –

Unfortunately, quarterbacks are at a shortage, so hopefully you already have a decent starter in your lineup.

Jason Campbell had three passing touchdowns and nearly 400 passing yards versus a better than average Patriots defense. The Browns face the Bears and Jets coming up which don’t present too scary of matchups for Campbell.

Ryan Tannehill may be on waivers and he faces the Patriots defense who just let Jason Campbell (see above) torch them for nearly 400 yards.

Josh McCown if he starts for Jay Cutler again, he’s worth a pickup if you’re in a bind. He does face a stiffer Browns defense this week, but his receiving crew is top-notch.

Jay Cutler could be on waivers because fantasy owners just didn’t have room to house him. He may get the start, so grab him if your current quarterback is lagging or faces a daunting matchup.

WIDE RECEIVERS –

Da’Rick Rodgers was a beast for the Colts last week and could be a serviceable option in Week 15 against the Texans who couldn’t seem to stop anyone on the Jaguars last week.

Jacoby Jones continues to get targets and if you get return yardage points, the boy can run!

Danny Amendola might be the waiver wires, because – let’s face it facts: he has been a huge fantasy letdown. Nevertheless, the Patriots are now without Rob Gronkowski and besides Julian Edelman, the other receivers are beat up. Amendola could finish off the season with a muted bang.

Ace Sanders is likely on waiver wires and he scored a touchdown last week. Suddenly, the Jaguars offense isn’t looking to shabby, so you could do worse if you need a player.

Cordarrelle Patterson is usually targeted just a couple times per game, but when he gets a catch, he is amazingly fast and has the potential to get to the end zone. If you get points for return yardage, that’s an added bonus. Recommended in deeper leagues only.

RUNNING BACKS

Toby Gerhart will be a great pickup if fellow running back Adrian Peterson misses Week 15 which is looking is looking like a strong possibility. Keep posted on Peterson’s prognosis for this week.

Bobby Rainey may have been discarded to the waivers after a couple weeks of disappointing performances. He had a good week last week and in Week 15, the Buccaneers face the 49ers who defend their air game well. Rainey will have a key role.

Marcel Reece is valuable only if Darren McFadden and Rashad Jennings sit out in Week 15. Reece scorched the brutal Jets ground defense for over 100 rush yards and a touchdown. His size is a plus for pushing through the red zone.

Joique Bell may be around the waiver wires in smaller leagues and will be up for a big workload if Reggie Bush remains sidelined. Keep in mind the Lions play in Monday Night Football in Week 15.

Daniel Thomas could fill carry the full workload if Lamar Miller (concussion) is not cleared to return Week 15.

James Starks is worth a pickup from the waivers as backup coverage for Eddy Lacy who injured his ankle last week.

TIGHT ENDS –

Dennis Pitta is back and already on the books for a touchdown. If your tight end is a flop, Pitta should be an improvement.

Garrett Graham has returned to fantasy football relevance and has been seeing more targets near the red zone.

Jacob Tamme is advised only in deep leagues as the Broncos will likely be without Wes Welker in Week 15 for Thursday Night Football. Tamme could be utilized more to extend the Broncos receiving depth.

DEFENSES –

New Orleans Saints Defense did an honorable job keeping Cam Newton in check last week, allowing him only one passing touchdown. They face a struggling Rams offense in Week 15.

Jacksonville Jaguars Defense play the Buffalo Bills who’s offense is not the most competitive these days.

Philadelphia Eagles Defense plays against an unstable Vikings offense who could be without Adrian Peterson in Week 15.
