Watch: Johnny Manziel Flips The Bird During Game Time
In a classy and not totally surprising move by the Cleveland Browns’ rookie quarterback, Johnny Manziel, he flipped the bird while running down the sidelines in tonight’s game against Washington.
What ignited the middle finger salute was a play where a Washington player was forced out of bounds then apparently mouthed off to Manziel. The rookie returned the jab by jaunting away flipping basically the world off.
Manziel had these comments to share in a post-game interview (via NFL.com).
I get words exchanged with me throughout the entirety of the game every game, week after week. Should have been smarter, it was a Monday Night Football game … just need to be smarter about that.
Coach Mike Pettine who wasn’t thrilled about his rookie’s behavior had this to say..
I was informed of it after the game and it’s disappointing. That’s what we talk about, is being poised and being focused. You have to be able to maintain your poise. All football players, especially the quarterback, we have to keep our compsure, so it’s something that we’ll obviously address.
Uh oh. It sounds like someone is in Pettine’s dog house, which doesn’t fare well for Manziel who is competing for the team’s starting job. One thing a starting quarterback needs to possess is composure and maturity, both of which Manziel lacked tonight.
